Ogre's Swamp of random thoughts and other detritus

Back from the dead!  Ok, so blogging just isn't my thing.  I try to keep my facebook reasonably up to date, but even with a limited character count and complete randomness I sometimes have not a lot to say to the world.  The next couple of months though will be a little different (I hope).  You see, my summer is about to really kick in to action.  Yeah, it has been a pretty busy year so far with weekends at the race track riding my motorcycle at my limits (it can do so much more than me) as well as working on fixing up the house to get it on the market.  Breaking left clavicle 5 weeks ago definitely slowed me down a bit, but now it is time to get in gear.

Starting Sunday May 23rd I am off on a bit of an adventure.  I am packing up my fifth wheel RV trailer and heading west with my best friend of 30+ years.  Our destination is Miller Motorsports Park just outside of Salt Lake City, UT for the World Superbike races over Memorial weekend.  We are heading out from the Atlanta, GA area and going to take our time along the way to see some of the sights and just have some fun along the way.  The motorcycles will be in the back of the trailer (it has a 12 foot garage at the back) and will come out from time to time for a little fun.  First stop will be Memphis, TN.  I've been there a couple of times but never really had much time to do much of anything.  This time we will spend a little time and see some of the sights, including Graceland.  The next major stop will be Colorado Springs, CO.  I have some long time friends in the area that I would like to see and then of course there is Pikes Peak among other interesting things.  The rest of the trip out will be somewhat ad hoc just with the goal of getting to Miller by Saturday early afternoon.

So back to the reason of coming back from the dead.  I have been asked by several people to document my adventure in both words and pictures.  I am going to try to do that here where any of my friends/co workers can see it as well as anyone else that wants to follow my wanderings and ramblings.  The wandering does not stop on Memorial Day.  After the races, Marc and I part ways.  He is off to some work destination by plane and I am off to drive back east but via a wandering route to take care of some work and get some sight seeing in along the way.  Anyway it should be fun and I am really looking forward to this trip as well as the other trips this summer.  I will try to keep this up to date as I go along.  And I will start this week by documenting the preparations for the trip, just to try and get in the habit of at least a daily update.  I hope you all come along and enjoy the ride
