In a time when NASA seems to be taking a lot of hits for scandal and problems with the shuttle, it is nice to see that they still have something that works. The Mars rovers have come back to life after the dust storms have passed and are continuing to explore the surface of Mars. The fact that the rovers work at all is an achievement by itself since it took a couple of tries by various agencies to get a functioning rover to the planet in working order. With that accomplished successfully, it was the hope that they would work for 3 months and give us some information about the potential for life on Mars and a better understanding of the planet's history so maybe we can understand more about our own planet. Again, success was achieved, the rovers made it through 3 months and sent back a ton of data about their surroundings. That was over 3 years ago and the rovers, one on each side of the planet are both still going and still sending back a ton of information. To say that the rovers have exceeded expectations would be an understatement and it is nice to see that NASA still has the ability to do something right.
